We all have a lot of Self-Talk happening in our big ole brains. For some, it is empowering and pumps us up so we are the Master of the Universe. For others, it is limiting and crushing and keeps us in our small comfort zones. Sometimes, we don’t even know what is on that reel, but it is continuously spinning and keeping us from being as big as we could be. All the crap that has filled our heads stays there unless we take it out to the trash and dump it. In my case, I FEEL EVERY EMOTION SO INTENSELY and MUST tell everyone what I think, even when it is CLEARLY the wrong time. Most of the time, when I feel the negative emotions, I get all fired up because that inner voice is telling me to stand up for myself, or the person being wronged and CONFRONT the offender. This leads to huge fights that could probably be avoided if I just moved through the emotions in the first place. So, how to Zen out your mind so you are in control? Good Question. Here are some things I am trying:
Brain Dump: Get it all out. Schedule a brain dump every week. Get out you idea journal and just DUMP. It doesn’t matter how big or small. Just get it out. The key to not loosing all of this info is to have a system to retrieve it when you need it. Thanks to Getting Things Done: The Art of Stress-Free Productivity
I now understand this concept. This will leave my mind open for bigger ideas, clearer thoughts and a little peace.
Categorize your Dump: Find a system that works for you. My current system is to review my notebooks each week and place ideas, concepts and To-Dos into my different holding bins. The bins I use my Monthly Calendar. This is where I start organizing my week and then days. If I have BIG goals or dreams in my Notebooks, I will either pull those out to my vision board and represent them visually.
Retrieve Your Ideas When You Need Them: I am still working on this one.
Meditation: Quieting your mind and protecting it from all the NOISE for 3 minutes a day has worked wonders. Try it. Everyday. Three minutes.
Read, Read, READ! Here are a few that are working for me right now:
The Compound Effect by Darren Hardy. First of all. I love Darren. He has some GREAT products. I did his course, Designing The Best Ten Years Of Your Life when I decided that I deserve the life I was meant to have. It was awesome and I still use today.
This Year I Will…: How to Finally Change a Habit, Keep a Resolution, or Make a Dream Come True by M.J. Ryan. This is an older book, but I just love the quick chapters and relate-able stories. It will help remove the excuses.
10-10-10: A Fast and Powerful Way to Get Unstuck in Love, at Work, and with Your Family by Suzy Welch. A great concept that helped me choose my attitude and be aware of my actions.
What do YOU do? How do you fill your mind with healthy thoughts to strengthen that confidence muscle? Tell me!
