To Be A Better You:
Andrea is the first person that resonated with me when I did the 1 am podcast search in iTunes for a life coach who wasn’t all touchy feely. I wanted someone who cut through all the crap and got to the actionable stuff. I like people who are honest and just tell you how it is and her first book does it nicely. The chapters are short and meaty. Just enough for you to get your ass in gear.
The Law of the Garbage Truck: How to Stop People from Dumping on You by David J Pollay is the best book for getting over people and all the crap they can dump on you.
I am hooked on Leman right now, I liked his parenting books so much, I have Have a New Husband by Friday: How to Change His Attitude, Behavior & Communication in 5 Days by Kevin Leman (Sep 1 2011) and Have a New You by Friday: How to Accept Yourself, Boost Your Confidence & Change Your Life in 5 Days on my nightstand right now. Ready to be devoured. I will keep you posted!
Anything by Darren Hardy: The Compound Effect is a great one to start with. Gets your butt in gear and resets the way you view you actions and choices, easily. Design Your Best Year Ever, A Proven Formula for Achieving Big Goals is more of a system. It really dives deep into big audacious goals and breaks them down into tiny actionable steps. I was fortunate enough to go through the beta of this which was Designing the Next 10 years prior to this coming out. Intense and worth it, if you have the staying power to do all of the exercises.
To Have a Kick-Ass Business:
Jab, Jab, Jab, Right Hook: How to Tell Your Story in a Noisy Social World AND Crush It!: Why NOW Is the Time to Cash In on Your Passion AND The Thank You Economy by Gary Vaynerchuk. Gary Vee – need I say more? He is awesome.
I love Jamie Tardy of the Eventual Millionaire. She finally wrote a great book based on all of her interviews with people of a net worth over a million bucks. Obviously titled The Eventual Millionaire: How Anyone Can Be an Entrepreneur and Successfully Grow Their Startup. Chock full of good stuff!
Have a New Kid by Friday: How to Change Your Child’s Attitude, Behavior & Character in 5 Days or Parenting Your Powerful Child: Bringing an End to the Everyday Battles basically, anything by Dr. Kevin Leman.
Just Cool Stuff To Know:
I met Jan Hargrave this week and she blew my mind. She is a body language expert, just like the guy on Lie To Me. She gave a great talk on how to read people, i.e. tell if someone is a liar! So, here are some of the books I picked up today: Strictly Business: Body Language: Using Nonverbal Communication for Power and Success, for obvious reasons. Freeway of Love again, for not so obvious reasons… I want to use it when “discussing” certain topics with the hubs. Ba Ha Ha.
